Begonia 'Brad Thompson'!

As I was eating my breakfast his morning and looking out the sliding glass door, I couldn't keep my eye's off this great looking begonia B. 'Brad Thompson'!  I like the various shades of brown and dark green on the leaves and the colorful blooms "shooting out" above the leaves!  Mike Flaherty has done a great job growing this begonia.

Brad Thompson was one of the American Begonia Society’s most productive members. He was an incredible hybridizer with 609 named cultivars on record.  Brad was known for naming his cultivars after friends.  I'm happy and proud to say that I was a friend of Brad Thompson and that he named two begonias after me.  They are Begonia 'Mr. Hunt' and Begonia 'Gary Hunt'.

It's customary for Hybridizers not to name begonias after themselves.  However, Brad Thompson did name this begonia after himself as he got tired of waiting for someone else to name a begonia after him and he wanted to enjoy this in his lifetime. I'm glad Brad did!

Here are the two begonias Brad named after me.
