This Lesser Goldfinch was keeping an eye on me!  I had just refilled the Nyjer Thistle feeders.

Visitors To The Birdbath

Every now and then I like to set the BirdCam in front of the ground level birdbath.  It's fun to see what shows up.  I like this first picture of a chipmunk, looking right at the camera.

New Bird Feeder

I have a new bird feeder and with anything new, the birds are slow to start eating from it.  What's really interesting there are several birds that are eating at the feeder but not at the same time and they all eat from the same perch.  Here are a couple of White-crowned Sparrows.

A few house finches are starting to come to the new feeder.  It's filled with a mixture to premium finch seed and safflower seeds.

It was a rainy day and you can see the rain drops on the new feeder.  Here are some other birds that  I photographed the same day.

This Lessor Goldfinch has a surprise guest in the birdbath!

More activity in the birdbath

Here is a White-Crowned Sparrow getting a morning drink out of the birdbath.

And I can always count on a Scrub-Jay to visit the birdbath.

Hanging out by the Nyger Feeders

The other day I was filling the bird feeders and grabbed my camera to get some pictures of some Lesser Gold Finches.

At first the feeders were empty.  I'm sitting about six feet away.  I played some bird calls of Lesser Goldfinches on my iPhone using the iBird app.  That got a lot of birds chirping in the trees and bushes.

Eventually a few brave birds landed on the feeder.

But I want that one!

At first I wondered why this Lesser Goldfinch didn't go to a lower perch on the feeder.
It saw the seed it wanted and stuck its head into the feeder to get it.  If you look close you can see its head inside the feeder getting some seed.  That is some determination.  Good thing it held on tight with its feet, or it could have ended up inside thefeeder.

I wonder what seed was worth the extra effort?
