     The plumeria seed pods continue to grow.  The one pictured above is about 16 inches from tip to tip.  It's still another six months before the seeds will start being released.  Below is a picture of this pod 11 weeks earlier, when I first noticed it.

     The second seed pod continues to grow even though the pods didn't separate and are connected along the length of the pods.  It's not readily accessible to measure, so I'm going to guess the pods are about 6 inches in length.

Below is the "before picture" taken about 11 weeks ago.

     Both pods are growing on the same variety of plumeria, but on two different plants.  I like how the colors shift on the blooms from pink to white and that the blooms are fragrant.  Below is a cluster of blooms from this variety.

        I was removing some old blooms from a plumeria and saw this seed pod forming!  It's only about an inch long now and will continue to develop for about nine months.  

        Here you can see the pod surrounded by blooms.  This plumeria that is very fragrant and has nice looking blooms.

        Soon after finding the first pod, I found this second smaller seed pod on another plumeria.

        The seed pods take about nine months to develop, so if all goes well I'll have some seeds next summer (2026).  Then maybe some seedlings in the summer of 2027! 

        I've grown a plumeria seed pod once before and it was many years ago.  The first time I saw a pod, (each side was about two inches long) and I didn't know what it was.  Initially I thought it was an abnormal growth?  Then after some research I learned what it was.  I kept an eye on it and watched it continue to grow and then ripen.  Then the first pod split  and released thin papery seeds.  I collected several seeds, grew them in seed trays and eventually grew three healthy plants.  

        I thought I took pictures of the pod, seeds and seedlings, but so far I haven't  found any pictures and I'm not really sure how long ago it happened?  Meanwhile, I'll watch these seedpods continue to grow!

Blooming Surprises!

 I was walking around the garden and was surprised to see some of these blooms.

This plumeria has been growing several small branches and lots of leaves since August and now all of a sudden it has some blooms in early November!  I like the pale pink color and it has a slight fragrance.

Epiphyllum

This white epiphyllum is growing right next to where I park my car.  I like the long thin petals on this bloom.

Feather Cactus, AKA Mammillaria plumosa

The small blooms can be easy to miss on this Feather Cactus, AKA Mammillaria Plumosa.  The spines on this look and feel like fine feathers.

Passion Flower

The Passion Vine continues to produce a bunch of blooms and as you know, it's one of my favorites.

 The extended foggy and cool summer weather, has slowed the growth of my plumeria this year.  Finally I have some blooms and really nice leaves on my variegated plumeria.  I think the leaves on this variegated plumeria are fantastic!

Fragrant Plumeria

This Plumeria is really fragrant in the late afternoon on a warm day, when the sun has moved so that it is in the shade.

Plumeria, Intense Rainbow

This is one of my favorite Plumeria, Intense Rainbow. I moved it out of direct sunlight, so now gets morning light and is under shade cloth the rest of the day, I think it is happier.

More Plumeria blooms.  I like how they are pink when they first bloom and then become white.  These have a nice light fragrance.
