The House Finches Are Enjoying The Sunflower Seeds!

Today the House Finches are harvesting the sunflower seeds. The other day they were eating the leaves of the sunflower plant (I didn't have my camera). I had been wondering what was making the large holes in the leaves? I'm glad to see they have moved on to a more nutritious part of the plant!

BirdCam on the Birdbath

Yesterday afternoon I set the BirdCam up in front of the birdbath, just to see who visits. A raccoon, house finch, western scrub-jay and a mourning dove stopped by for a drink of water.

New Bird Feeder

I have a new bird feeder and with anything new, the birds are slow to start eating from it. What's really interesting there are several birds that are eating at the feeder but not at the same time and they all eat from the same perch. Here are a couple of White-crowned Sparrows.

A few house finches are starting to come to the new feeder. It's filled with a mixture to premium finch seed and safflower seeds.

It was a rainy day and you can see the rain drops on the new feeder. Here are some other birds that I photographed the same day.

Red-breasted Nuthatches fly in for some seeds!

This December I noticed some new birds at the feeders. They were very quick taking a sunflower seed from the tube feeder and then flying away, unlike a house finch that would sit at the feeder and eat seed for several minutes. Today I was able to take a few pictures from the kitchen window and identify the them as Red-breasted Nuthatches.

The Red-breasted Nuthatches would fly back and forth from the feeder very quickly, unlike the house finches that would sit at the feeders and look at me.
