I really like Tillandsias and they seem to do well in our garden.

Tillandsia,

Tillandsia,
A variety of Tillandsias in a glass basket.
I bought some of these Tillandsias at the bromeliad show in May and Mike bought this one below Tillandsia Secunda.  It is the largest Tillandsia and this one is about 20 inches wide.

Tillandsia Secunda
The following week Mike brought home another Tillandsia Secunda only this on is in bloom has a bloom stalk.  Here is a picture of it in the garden path.

Tillandsia Secunda
It's hard to see how tall it is so I took another picture of it outside this door to my glass studio.  It is about five feet tall.

Here are some more Tillandsias that Mike brought home.

This one sits in the Japanese maple tree outside our front door.
This Tillandsia Xerographica is almost a foot wide.
I like the shape of this Tillandsia Andreana

  1. Beautiful! I like tillandsias, too, and they are doing well on my porch. They'll come inside as soon as winter threatens as it is too cold for them in Albuquerque. I think the last one may be a very well cared for "Grassifolia", and the one above may be a Xerographica

  2. Thanks for your comments. I think you are right about the Xerographica and I have labeled it in the caption. I've done sme other searching and so far I'm not convinced the other is Grassifolia and I'm trying to contact the grower for verification. I'm glad to hear that tillandsias do well on your porch in Albuquerque. Happy Growing and thanks for visitng my blog! Gary

  3. I talked to the grower tonight and he identified it for me as T. Andreana. I have updated the caption.

  4. Albuquerque again. The first two are Caput Medusae, a plant I really like. I've had 2 bloom and one is pupping now. I like your hanging display a lot. Don't know what your other ones are, esp. the really big one (by the door, unless the door is actually tiny), but they all look very happy. Good to know about the Tillandsia Andreana which looks a lot like a Filifolia. I have 4, so probably mine are a mix, and they all stick out more (it's easy to see the core plant), and the one that has bloomed is pupping, which I just noticed this week.
