What better way to show how big the bloom is!  Thanks Mike for the help!

The plant has buds all over it, so more blooms are on the way!

Epiphyllum On The Steps

Mike has Epiphyllums all over the garden and when they bloom, it's like a little surprise.  This plant is tucked in among a Japanese Maple, Hibiscus and Tillandsia.  The blooms are at eye level, but easy to miss if I'm walking too quickly or carrying groceries!

Spider in a Pitcher (update)!

Here is an update from my post on April 29th, 'Spider in a Pitcher!'.  The spider is still in the pitcher.  The camera is overhead looking down into the pitcher.  It's hard to get a sense of the depth, but the spider is about 2 inches below the lip.  It has made a nest which is the white stuff that looks like gauze. The spider is behind the nest and, still facing up.  It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Cattleya Orchid

Mike is growing this Cattleya Orchid in the living room and it is just incredible.  This plant's blooms stay open longer than other cattleyas, and it has a light fragrance that doesn't overpower the house!

The Venus Flytrap Eats!

One of my Venus Flytrap's has digested a spider, and the trap has reopened.  All that is left is the spider's exoskeleton.  A trap/leaf will consume 1 to 3 bugs before dying off.

The trap with the exoskeleton is in the lower lefthand corner.  The trap in the top of the picture is a new leaf and the trap will open soon.
