Fox on Security Camera

A fox has been reported in the area and I finally got a few seconds of one on the cheapo security camera.

Here is a still photo from the video.  I'm really glad to see the fox it and I hope it stays around for a while.  It's a great eco-friendly way to keep the rodent population in check.

Begonia, The Big Easy

I like the big blooms on the begonia, The Big Easy.  And I think the morning dew makes for a nice picture.

An Acorn Woodpecker at a Bird Feeder

Well I've never seen this before.  It's an Acorn Woodpecker eating at one of the bird feeders.  He's a bit big for this feeder, but he manages to twist himself around to get to the seed.  It's a male because there is no black patch between the white forehead and red crown.  And it's a juvenile because it's eyes are black and adults have white eyes.

Mike Flaherty's Tuberous Begonia

Mike Flaherty is growing the best looking picotee tuberous begonia.  I like the contrast of the color on the edge compared to the rest of the petal.  One of my favorites!

Plumeria

More Plumeria blooms.  I like how they are pink when they first bloom and then become white.  These have a nice light fragrance.

Visitors To The Birdbath

Every now and then I like to set the BirdCam in front of the ground level birdbath.  It's fun to see what shows up.  I like this first picture of a chipmunk, looking right at the camera.

The cable company gave me a free camera that isn't worth much.  I won't go into all of the reasons why it's bad, however I did set it up in front of an Oriole feeder and and managed to capture a few 15 second clips of two Orioles.  Here is a still picture.

The following video is two 30 second clips.  The first is a female Oriole and the second is a male Oriole.

Time-Lapse Cactus Blooming 2

The other day on a whim, I set a time-lapse camera over this cactus to watch it bloom. Sunlight traveling through the picture can mess it up sometimes but this worked out okay.  That's the challenge of doing time-lapse outside.

Six years ago I made a time-lapse of the same cactus.  I'm glad its doing well, continuing to grow and bloom.

Click on the picture below to see the time-lapse from 2014.

Agave Gypsophila

I really like this Agave gypsophila. It bloomed three years ago and the new plant is growing well.

Agave Attenuata

I've always liked Agave Attenuata.  The size of the plants and the shapes of the leaves.  They grow all over the place in Santa Barbara.

Here are a two juvenile Hooded Orioles and I'll assume siblings. The one starting to get the black bib is a male and the one without a bib is a female. Sometimes they get along and sometimes they don't!
